Businessman’s hunt for cempedak leads to unity event
MELAKA: An entrepreneur’s hunt for cempedak in villages here has affirmed his faith in friendly Malaysians.
“The kampung folk here were very welcoming. They even guided me to the homes of their friends to source for the fruit, ” said 40-year-old Goh Ming Kang.
Hailing from Tangkak, Johor, Goh was so moved by the warm reception that he decided to hold a unity event here on Aug 24.
He will be giving away dozens of bicycles, educational materials and toys as prizes, and he is working closely with education organisations to invite students to take part in the contest.
Recounting his childhood, Goh said he grew up in a Malay village and was surrounded by friends from all races.
